Atelier "Ethique, religions et changement social"

Ce mercredi s'est tenu l'atelier sur l'étique, les religions et le changement social coorganisé par ENDA (Environnement et développement du Tiers-Monde), IFAPA (Interfaith Action for Peace in Africa) et le Réseau international Développement et Civilisations.

Voici, en résumé, les positions de chacun des intervenants  de l'atelier :

• Sophie Bessis (Tunisie) :
  "Réfléchir à un type d'occupation de l'espace social par le religieux, qui ne soit pas un obstacle à la citoyenneté"

• Cheikh Saliou (IFAPA) :
  "Le dialogue interreligieux non pas au travers de débats théologiques, mais en action. Rassembler les valeurs communes aux religions afin d'éviter l'instrumentalisation et d'apporter des solutions aux problèmes de développement".

• Sally Rousset (Réseau international Développement et Civilisations) :
  "Diversité religieuse, laïcité, citoyenneté et démocratie : ce que l'expérience et les analyses des organisations de terrain apportent à la compréhension des situations rencontrées et à la mise en oeuvre du vivre ensemble."

• Abbé Jacques Seck (Sénégal) :
  "La tolérance envers les religions minoritaires ? Il ne s'agit pas d'être tolérés, mais d'être reconnus !"

Workshop on "Ethics, religions and social change"

On Wednesday was help the workshop on ethics, religions and social change, coorganized by ENDA (Environment and Development for the Third-World), IFAPA (Interfaith Action for Peace in Africa) and the Development and civilizations International Network.

Here are, in a nutshell, each speaker's position on the issues debated:

• Sophie Bessis (Tunisia):"We must reflect together on a type of ocupation of the social space by religions, which would not be an obstacle to citizenship"

• Cheikh Saliou (IFAPA):"Interreligious dialogue, not through theological debates but in action. Gather all the values shared by religions in order to avoid manipulation and bring solutions to the develoment problems."

• Sally Rousset (Development and civilizations International Network):Religious diversity, secularism, citizenship and democracy: how can the experience and the analysis of grassroot organizations contribute to better understanding of the situations we are faced to and to the implementation of the "living together"."

• Father Jacques Seck (Sénégal):"Tolerance towards religious minorities? The issue is not to be tolerated, but to be recognized!"

Sally Rousset :

"Les organisations populaires sont de plus en plus interpellées par la nécessité de réfléchir à l'articulation, sur les territoires où elles agissent, entre les manifestations (positives ou négatives) du fait religieux et leurs champs d'engagement et d'action (lutte contre la pauvreté, droits humains, accès pour tous aux services essentiels, etc.)"

"Grassroots organizations are increasingly challenged by the need to consider the link, within the territories where they operate, between the manifestations (positive or negative) of religion and their fields of commitment and action (fight against poverty, human rights, access to essential services, etc.)."

"Pour que la religion soit moteur de développement, il faudrait sortir de la double instrumentalisation : le politique qui tente de manipuler le religieux, le religieux qui tente de manipuler le politique..."

"For religion to be a driving force for development, we should get out of the dualmanipulation: the political that tries to manipulate the religious, the religion that tries tomanipulate the political ..."
